As a private pay therapist, I do not directly bill insurance companies. However, I can provide you with a superbill* that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
Therapy is a valuable investment in your mental health and overall well-being. While I do not accept insurance at Magnolia Therapy & Wellness, I believe in providing high-quality, personalized care tailored to each client’s unique needs. The cost of therapy reflects my expertise and dedication, the individualized treatment plans, and the support you receive throughout your journey. Think of therapy as an investment in your long-term happiness and emotional well-being. Prioritizing your mental health can lead to profound and lasting positive changes in your life. You are worth this investment in yourself.
*Please note that if you receive Medicare in whole or in part, no superbill will be provided. Additionally, an exemption to see a an out-of-network therapist will need to be signed prior to treatment. Please let your therapist know you receive whole or supplemental Medicare insurance.

I accept health savings cards, credit cards, debit cards all via IvyPay (a HIPAA-compliant therapy payment system). I also accept cash or check for therapy services.
Payment for services are due at the time of session. All card payments made via IvyPay are billed in the morning the day of your scheduled session.

I reserve a limited number of spots for sliding scale which may be offered based on a client’s income and ability to pay. Current clients have priority for sliding scale. Contact me directly to inquire about sliding scale options.
-
Private pay clients may contact their insurance providers directly to inquire if they will accept a super bill of your therapy services. Accepted super bills are reimbursed directly from the insurer to the client for their out-of-pocket payments.
It is recommended you contact your insurance company prior to starting therapy if you will need a super bill reimbursement. Be sure to ask your insurer if they will reimburse for out-of-network therapy sessions by type (individual, family), number of sessions, and how much of the total cost they will reimburse.

Private pay therapy refers to therapy services that are paid for directly by the client, without involving insurance companies. This approach offers more flexibility in choosing a therapist and the type of therapy received. Clients can request a superbill to submit to their insurance company for potential reimbursement and work directly with their insurance company regarding coverage and reimbursement.

Yes, therapy can be highly effective. Research shows that therapy helps many people improve their mental health, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and achieve personal goals. The effectiveness of therapy depends on several factors, including the therapist’s expertise, the therapeutic methods used, the therapeutic relationship and the individual’s willingness to engage in the process. I utilize attachment-based practices such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Brainspotting to address a variety of issues. Many clients experience significant improvements in their well-being and relationships through consistent and committed participation in therapy.

The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and treatment goals. Most people start weekly or biweekly and step down as needed. We can discuss a schedule that works best for you during our initial consultation.
-
During your first session we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, what goals or improvements your looking for, and address any questions or concerns you may have. With attentive listening and curiosity, I will guide the conversation to help us both begin to gain a clear understanding of your situation. Together as we begin to build a path towards your goals, I will discuss the treatment plans, session frequency and expectations of timelines.

Yes, therapy is confidential, and your privacy is protected by law. However, there are some exceptions to confidentiality, which are covered in my informed consent paperwork and will be discussed during our first session. These exceptions typically include situations involving harm to yourself or others, abuse or neglect of a child, elderly, or dependent adult, and court orders. If you have questions or concerns regarding this, we can discuss it during our first session.
-
Ater you contact me, I will return your email, text or call to provide my current availability, schedule a session and answer any brief questions you may have. Once we have a session scheduled, I will send a follow up email with instructions on accessing the necessary intake paperwork I’ll need you to complete prior to our first session, directions to my office, and more.

Yes! I utilize a HIPAA-compliant version of Google Meet for virtual online sessions with clients. Depending on your need, we can meet virtually exclusively, or we can meet in person and online at your convenience.
Note: Client must be physically in the state of California during the online session. While I take every step to insure confidentiality is maintained, inherent risks to breach of confidentiality exist. Online sessions are available when client cases are deemed clinically appropriate for telehealth care; each request for online sessions are discussed between myself and the client to determine if clinically appropriate.
